Open Fusion folders
These five slots do the same kind of job: open the matching category folder under the DaVinci Resolve Fusion user directory in the system file manager, so you can drop templates, effects and similar files in. They only open local folders; they do not import anything onto the timeline or into the media pool.
What you will learn
- Drag one of the five "Open Fusion … folder" tools into a Toolkit slot
- Match the Windows / macOS path conventions
- Read "Opened the folder in the file manager" versus the footer tip when opening fails
Where to find it
- Open in the sidebar
- In the Fusion group of the feature list, drag the slot you need into an empty slot, for example:
- Open Fusion templates folder
- and generators / titles / effects / transitions
- Click the slot in the main window or on the floating toolbar: the matching folder opens in the system
These tools are listed for the DaVinci Resolve host. Switch the current target extension to DaVinci Resolve before using them in the Toolkit.
The five slots
| Tool | Folder opened (relative to the Fusion templates root) |
|---|---|
| Open Fusion templates folder | The templates root Templates itself |
| Open Fusion generators folder | Templates/Edit/Generators |
| Open Fusion titles folder | Templates/Edit/Titles |
| Open Fusion effects folder | Templates/Edit/Effects |
| Open Fusion transitions folder | Templates/Edit/Transitions |
If a folder does not exist yet, the desktop app creates it before opening.
Path conventions
The templates root sits under the DaVinci Resolve Fusion path in local application data (same as the historical scripts):
| System | Path |
|---|---|
| Windows | %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates |
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Templates |
Generators / titles / effects / transitions then go into the Edit/… subfolders under that root.
How it relates to the extension connection
- Paths are resolved and created by the LmBox Bridge desktop app with the conventions above; they do not depend on importing media into a project.
- The slots appear in the DaVinci Resolve host feature list; when the current target is not DaVinci Resolve, you usually do not see them or they do not apply.
- On success the footer says "Opened the folder in the file manager"; if local application data is unavailable, the path is invalid, or opening fails, the footer shows the reason (follow the tip you actually see).
After you put files in the folder, whether they show up in DaVinci Resolve right away still follows Resolve's own refresh / restart habits; this tool does not replace "Import".
